Dr. Larry Regens is Associate Dean for Research in the College of Public Health and founding Director, Center for Biosecurity Research at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Regens is Presidential Professor, Occupational and Environmental Health and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. His research focuses on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threat countermeasures; the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases; and environmental health.
Dr. Regens has held positions at research universities, in government, and national laboratories. He previously was Freeport-McMoRan Chair in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at Tulane University Health Sciences Center and was on the faculty of the University of Georgia. He has been a consultant to and on review panels for numerous organizations including the International Atomic Energy Agency, National Institutes of Health, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, National Academy of Engineering, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Energy, Argonne National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Environmental Protection Agency, and the Ukrainian State Committee on Nuclear Power Utilization. Dr. Regens has been the Principal Investigator for over $35 million in research funding, primarily from the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, and National Science Foundation.
He is the author of over 200 publications including seven books and has received numerous awards including the Superior Achievement Award, Department of Energy; Commander's Award for Public Service, Chief of Engineers, Army Corps of Engineers, Department of the Army; and Bronze Medal for Commendable Service, Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Regens is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. |
